Drone keeps reappearing every time they think about reopening the airport. Whoever is behind this is running rings around the security services...which is cause for concern in itself.
Was a drug Lord due to be flown in today?

I hope they have checked any recently closed and vacant churches in the vicinity of the parameter?

Haha, no project fear here! The Government has recently come out and said they've ended any negotiations on access to the military sensitive signal from Galileo and aren't exploring a deal to use the USA's GPS. They will look to, in their words 'build our own GNSS'. Further;

The EU has said its rules mean the UK will be excluded from the more militarily sensitive parts of Galileo and the UK government has said that it will not continue to seek access to these for military purposes after Brexit. It said this is because of the EU’s reluctance to allow a non-member country to be involved in the development of the project’s secure elements. As a result, the UK is looking into building its own satellite navigations system. Fullfact.org Dec 4th 2018

A GNSS of our own would cost in the region of £5bn (knowing the UK on major projects it'll cost more).

Tea and medals part sounds fantastic! Not sure the Spitfires are up to the job anymore though Smiley

The plan, such as there is, is to get in to bed with the Australians on this. Perhaps not quite as stupid as what you think, OK they sandpaper cricket balls, but they do get the game, unlike the French and Germans.

We had our own satellite system up until 71; Prospero. Unfortunately it's development coincided with the country going bust, and the decision to join the nascent EU. The Americans aren't to be trusted.

Certainly there's trade to be done in the Antipodes... apparently IKEA have just opened their first store in NZ, which is a bit odd as we've been told it's only EU rules which prevent British companies doing this sort of thing

I am intrigued to know what bandwidth (might not be the correct term) this will operate in as it's been suggested that most of the available capacity is already licenced to other countries,  sure we can use something to reflect the era we are aspiring to?

I realise a lot of the posters on here are of a certain age, but is it true that the majority of young ‘uns these days are unable to scare up a date without resorting to some app or other?

In my more ‘active’ years I was in the RAF and it was liking shooting fish in a barrel.

Have people lost the art of chatting up a woman? And wtf is ghosting?

Went to a charity black tie the other day. Talked to the other couples on our table, both my age or older (i.e. 45+)  both had met on "plenty of fish" (dating webiste).

Seems online dating is the new way to get into relationships/adulterous affairs for all ages.

I think most blokes would probably be scared. The world has gone crazy. If the bloke makes a 'move' they could be shot down. Unfortunately, Apps make it easier. I think as a nation, we have become very lazy.

Also, how many people go 'out' nowadays. Even the yoof of today. I remember going out xmas eve at 1pm, in the afternoon, have an all dayer. Nowadays they go out at 11pm...

So people have so little self confidence the poor darlings couldn’t stand the rejection?

What’s happened to the drunken fumblings that served me so well?

If a guy gets 'shot down' for making a move then he's doing it wrong. It's always been that way.

Exactly. A drunken kiss/fumble was never a bad thing. Can you still buy beer goggles?

The fundamentals are the same, but the mechanics are different.  By which I mean you see someone, you either fancy them or not, which is reciprocated or not.  These encounters which used to happen perhaps in the workplace, higher education, socialising, friends of friends that sort of thing are now done on smart phones. That of course doesn't rule out the more traditional methods.

I see nothing wrong with it;  it's not for me, as years of old skool methods have served me well enough.

Sometimes I get chatting to young absolute stunners, happened about a fortnight ago, and it's very difficult not to make an absolute twat of yourself.

Wow... what a cowardly, despicable thing to do.

It's happened to the best of us...  Cheesy Yep, happened to me. It's just weird! I suppose I'm of that age where I'm on the cusp of so called modern tech. Grew up with in the analogue age, spent my early adulthood into the digital age. Now only into my thirties, the mobile age is well and truly upon us.

As Aud said, RE: An app for everything. I find it bloody annoying that many can't read a fucking map and rely purely on google. I much prefer using a blend of both. Some traditional, well trodden route is best and other times a newer direction is needed.

The online dating thing while not that new is odd on Tinder. It seems to be just full on wannabe Pornstar Betty or proud "you can't even hold my hand" prudence. There's not many so called normal ones on there. I came off it ages ago. There's no genuine initiation, it's purely based on fucking sticker swaps but instead of saying "got, got, need, got", it's "fit, meh, gotta be fake, fit, seems nice, what is it!"

Yet it is getting stupid. I know the world works faster and longer now, and there is a great use for some of the stuff. Don't get me started on voice activated based stuff, like Alexa etc. "Alexa turn my lights down." Fucking do it yourself you lazy cunt! I'm pretty sure that the faster food gets and the less we do as a species, early onset of heart disease and diabetes is going to be more prevalent in younger people.

Humans, love nothing more than destroying themselves in every way possible. Unfortunately, none of us are immune.
