does anyone know how to block companies that use auto dialling to home phones that never fucking speak when you answer, its getting on my nerves  Bad Mood

as above TPS blocks some, better than nothing.

bt have implemented a block service within their network, but you could always buy a phone with inbuilt blocking and screen all calls only allowing whitelist through.

but in essence, there isn't a foolproof way to only get the calls you want...

I've got the phones with call blocking, they are great, don't get any unwanted calls at all now.

Be interesting to see what opinions are on giving the kiss of life to someone who has collapsed.

Hint: "Kiss of Life" is just a term - it's not really a kiss.

I spoke to someone the other day who used to be in charge of one of these call centres.. His advice was to act interested initially, but keep them on the line for as long as possible (I'm just looking for my license, etc) they'll get bollocked if they hang up. Then come back and say you're not actually interested. They'll get bollocked for not making the sale. They can't win, and they probably won't call you again.

At least that's what he said..

I did cold calling during my university days although it was far more legitimate  than what seems to go around now.

It wasn’t that bad to be honest, great money for what it was, good incentives and I can only really remember one person going loco-crazy at me (out of thousands of calls). Couldn’t do it now though. No thank you.

People were taken off lists if they requested it but I know a few guys would stick them back in the queue if callers were ‘being dicks’.

Being a tired impatient prick while migrating my OS.

It was reading from an external backup and upgrading iTunes in the background. I tried to stop the iTunes install, failed, attempted a shutdown, deciding it was a bad idea went to cancel that and accidentally caused a shutdown.

Somehow this managed to cause the drive to become unreadable. 5TB of data, and a laptop, were close to being smashed to pieces, but another hour later and I think the HDD is becoming readable again. I think.

Jesus, all to try out a new OS (at 23:00 when I wanted to be in bed by 22:00) and I might’ve now broken the fall back. I’m such a twat.

Left it recovering overnight, it succeeded and now the world is once again good. Or will be.

I’ve seen the weird fella twice recently.

Walks across the road from his house to his car and drives off dressed in a baseball cap, slippers and dressing gown. No jammy bottoms - just the gown.

Wtf

Letting agency/Landlord taking (so far) 27 days to OK some basic maintainance needed on our new house. The list isn't exactly exhausting or extensive, here's what the engineer chappy sent them...

Door Bell broken

Front Door Mech

Letterbox in Brass

Cupboard Under lighting x2

Kitchen Tap/ Leaking from arm

Smoke alarm downstairs not working

Smoke alarm is meant to run on the mains, but isn't, replaced the 9v backup battery which had run out so at leasnt we shouldn't die in a fire... it's just fucking ridiculous that it's taken this long.
