On Pointless t'other day, one contestant offered up 'Paris' as an answer to the question "Name a country that ends with two consonants". That was pretty poor.
Not sure I'd have got one under the pressure of the spotlight. Took me at least 30 seconds this morning.

I'm of average intelligence but I've given some right duff answers under the minimal pressure of a pub quiz
Might be age thing but a good pub quiz has become one of my favourite nights out in recent years

England?
First thing I thought, then I realised it's not strictly a country. I love trying to explain to foreigners about England, the UK, Great Britain.

I was pleased with myself that I got one of the two pointless answers - The Solomon Islands

Of the three, only Poland is a recognised sovereign nation.

but if all quiz shows had clever contestants it would turn dull pretty quickly.
On this week's University Challenge, there was a lot from Courtauld's Institute of Art. Come the picture round starter, there was a pic of one of Constable's Brighton period seascapes, now I know a bit about art, and this was a bit of a gimme. They failed to recognise it. Later they got the picture round follow up and failed to recognise the work of the great Joseph Wright of Derby. Paxman at the end told them they were in for some fearful stick

What's happened to the "admit it" thread? Did someone admit to something they shouldn't have?

It has had a change of name, presumably because the thread went hugely off topic.

Hence why I named those three.....

It did, confused me but I am easily confused.

England?
I came up with Egypt in the end. Which was sort of overkill. Point was it took me 30 seconds to find any. We've all shouted answers at the telly, but try doing it on camera.

Egypt is a cracking answer and yes it is more difficult under pressure, I have been on Radio 2's Pop Master with Ken Bruce (I scored 33) but its much more difficult when millions of people are watching or listening.

But fucking Paris?
