My Norwegian friend couldn't recall the term for linesmen recently and called them "side refs". That one's stuck with me.

You're going to upset a lot of metal heads with that statement.

Just wait until the UK stops adhering to European standards. I kid you not. I had to check the holes a British colleague and I had punched in our A4 paper were the same gauge this summer. You have no idea of the multiple tiny benefits of a united Europe.

To be fair to them, the previous car was American (by name, Christ knows where it was built) and the new one is Korean.

Nice.  Too Cool

(You're secretly quite pleased with yourself aren't you.)

Sorry, it's not a new word:

In keeping with the thread - men who piss in the cubicles but leave the door open

A couple of home games ago I went down for a piss during the match, I was the only person in there.
Another guy comes in, he could've chosen anywhere else to piss, but no, he chose to stand right next to me.
Not good toilet etiquette.

My brother went to school with a bloke who did a lot of the graphics work on Carmaggedon 2: Carpocalypse Now (there's another one you can't coin, Batch). True story.

Maybe it was all my years with OUP, but I enjoy seeing a new word grow from the ground up. I've already had three more people adopt Fuzzy's perfect description of the outside-lane-90mph-Beemer/Merc/Audi-patrol as "Wankpanzers".

Range Rovers also fall into that category but might be better described as "Tommy Tankers".

I'll pass it on to Si's mate, in case they're thinking of doing a long-awaited sequel. The name alone may be enough to kill any such thoughts stone dead Smiley
