yeah that bit as reported is ridiculous. he's 11 ffs. also didn't the story also say the dad had been poking the women, and that the son said he didn't enjoy it as it was " wrong ". id hope this testimony wasn't the reason she was spared prison.
I'd be very surprised. The lack of custodial sentence I expect was, as you say, due to her state of mind rather than the crime. She was basically described as having learning difficulties. The length of time she's been placed on the SOR is actually quite long, and I think will probably be preventative enough not to warrant prison time.
It is a bit scary that a father could assume his 11 year old son was "up for it", mind you. But then I read his comments in the Adver, so I'm not convinced that was really the crux of his statement..
