What makes it even worse (as if missing our only London game of the season was not bad enough already) is that Ikea brings me out in a rash.  I can't stand the place.  A visit to the Croydon branch nearly drove me to tears once.  Nothing is easy there, or near anywhere else.  They will never have the item you went there for.  Everything has a stupid name and for some reason - & I have no idea why this is - women think it's fucking marvellous.

I told the wife a few years ago that I was never going to Croydon or Brent Cross again.  Then the Southampton place opened.  Which is better...marginally.  My red line on this is that we have to be there for 8am so that the count of idiots who go there for the 'retail experience' and a day out getting in my way is lower.  And maybe, just maybe, I will be able to prise the wife away by 10am, get home by 11am...and then on a train to London.  Doubtful, but if I do I'll have earned it.

Instead of succeeding in my bid to get a pass for Orient tomorrow, I find myself press-ganged in to a his & hers trip to Ikea in Southampton.  Shoot me now.

Just say 'No - I'm off to the game. You can ram Ikea up yer arse. Have a nice day'

Or tell her to shove Ikea up her arse and if she's that desperate to go, she should go on her fucking own.

Ha ha I went to the Croydon one once years ago. I said to the wife never again, and she's never asked me since. Awful place.

IKEA is perfect for furniture for kids bedrooms and maybe the odd kitchen accessory – that is all.

The beds don’t come with a standard size mattress so you can never find bedding to fit, unless you get IKEAs.

I've never set foot in the place, and certainly have no intention of doing so,especially having read TEFers thoughts.  The ex missus used to like to go these places, which is probably why she's now an ex...

Just seems fair to me.

Wimmin like shopping - blokes (in the main) like football.

Can't see why both parties can't have an enjoyable Saturday doing what they each like.

If only Audrey....increasingly, blokes don't go to football, but go shopping,... we've a few on here. Similarly you get blokes, who smell like birds after they poured on a load of scent, who aren't in fact gay...it's a modern world...

Funny board game thing in viz this month to play on a trip to  Ikea. Basically it takes you 4 hours, and you end up with 500 tea lights and a headache.

I am sad to say that I am now a fully fledged member of this modern man club. Most weekends I can't think of anything worse than 2hrs in the CG, when I treat myself to a little something elsewhere.

What have I become?
