Energy company's.

We were £29 in credit from our years bill with NPower. Great we get that back. They have now put our monthly price up by £18. How the hell does that work?!!

I moved from NPower as got fed up of them continually increasing our direct debit when we were in credit.  That was in June and I'm still waiting for a final bill and they owe us money back.

You do realise that you, and only you, decide how much to pay each month on DD?

Yes Chris. British Gas said we were 300 quid in credit and gave us it back, then sent us a letter saying we were 200 quid in the red. Thick cunts.

Customer service is as helpful as ebola aswell

You do realise that you, and only you, decide how much to pay each month on DD?

Its a standing order that you have total control over DD's they can take what they like

Many people are unaware in the difference between the two types of payment which means you could be paying more or less than you need to – without even knowing.

A standing order is an instruction to your bank to make regular payments of a fixed amount, either to someone else or to another account in your name, such as a savings account.

While a direct debit is an authority that you give so that a retailer can claim money from your bank account to meet your bills or repay your loans. For instance, you can often arrange for mobile, gas and electricity bills to be paid in this way. The crucial difference is that with a direct debit, the retailer can make amendments without the need to obtain the customer's signature on each occasion.

Yeah, but some people go grey at a young age.

Wondering more about the actual physiology behind it

Lack of melanin pigment in the hair folicle,  your hair is thus transparent.

I imagine that, much like fingernails/bones can show that you were ill with inclusions/pitting etc., hair does the same - your body essentially goes 'fuck it' and stops producing melanin because it's got other shit to worry about. Vitamin/dietary deficiencies, a screwed up internal body clock, all sorts of reasons.

There's no actual medical evidence to support stress causing grey hair, mostly I imagine because there are better things to be spending money on than that kind of research. But I have a mate who's 23 and has a proper badger-stripe shock of grey in his fringe that wasn't there 6 months ago, and there were only two changes in his life over that period- being all set to move out only to have the deal fall through, and a doctor telling him he had a gluten intolerance (and proceeding to live for 6 months as if he had one) when it now turns out he doesn't.

I imagine the fact that generally grey hair appears when you're older is because your folicles start getting shagged out and can't produce the melanin anymore.
