Dunno Si. I have just gone through the motions of splitting at Didcot on a Groupsaver 4 and I have come up with an all in price of £20.40 including tube day travel card for four people?
That's cheaper than what I paid.

The website is shit anyway, it will allow group savers at certain times but not others. So it doesn't surprise me.

written to customer services about being misquoted online and the call centre and got my £10 admin fee refunded-happy days. However and more importantly she included this paragraph and I tell thee it will kick off massive if this is the case as most of us have already bought tickets:-
'I note that you are now looking to buy group save tickets to travel on 29 May 2010. Please be aware that group save is barred for journey travelling into the london area before 1330 on the 29 May.'

Well I went into Chippenham station on Friday & was quoted a price with Group saver. I assume that they are not selling them from Swindon, but are from other stations. As for validity, if they sell them they are surely obliged by law to honour the contract

Groupsavers are used on the off peak return, which is not a guaranteed time of travel ticket. Therefore, they can rely on the T&C which will state they are not valid on all trains. Once you use the Groupsaver code you are effectively agreeing to waive the times you maye have selected originally to check which trains are running. You also need to remember to have everyone in the party on the same train when the tickets are being checked - they can charge full fare if not.
The big question is whether they would bother to try and enforce it on a train packed to the rafters with football fans drinking.

I've taken the view it's worth the risk.

Probably right. I can't see them getting past about 10 people before they give up trying to get it enforced. The ticket man won't get through 1 carriage before Paddington. Worst case scenario is you pay the full fare, so just cough up the difference anyway.

I assume the trains will all be dry but again I'm not sure how they will police that. Usually travel to games from Hertfordshire so doesn't usually affect me but going from Swindon with family on Saturday.

got 5 returns from the station earlier today, via didcot. worked out just over 19 quid each (groupsaver for 4 swindon-didcot, then again between didcot and london, and also for the underground. then the 5th was full price, but total split between 5 was about 19 quid. as for certain times/trains etc, i was told i could use any train at any time as long as it stops at didcot, so this is what i shall be doing
