from a Sunderland fan in peace. An old friend of mine is connected with the club, so I've been keeping a friendly eye on you lot for a couple of seasons.

Well done last night lads.

If you are interested in my neutral(ish) view of last night, 2-0 down and 10 men, many other sides would have bottled that, but
Wilson certainly seems to have you well organised. There was no panic and you kept your shape.

I was very impressed by Ward. The lad definitely has something about him and I hope you've got him on a decent contract.
Paynter didn't seem fit (canny nut to the knackers mind) and Greer needs his arse kicking for that tackle.
Douglas was a calm head when needed. Your sub keeper was an impressive shot stopper. Very much less so on crosses.

The sub on the left wing, O'Brian? Decent pace but woeful delivery. It must be very frustrating when you've got the likes of Austin hovering in the middle.

With play off finals, it's not always about the best side, but often who handles the occasion the best.

From what I've seen, particularly last night, you shouldn't fear either of the other two - I'm confident Wilson will have them well up for it.

My first post on here, so apologies if I've dropped, or talked, any bollocks and good luck at Wembley.

cheers. pretty fair assumption regarding our players. Our second keeper (Smith) was playing non league 3 seasons ago too.

Ward is on loan but hopefully if we get promoted he may want to stay. who knows.

And dopn't worry about talking bollox. 80% of this forum is bollox anyway

But the more he plays well the less chance we have of keeping him... I'm probably deluded though. It would be akin to us thinking we could have kept Milner when he was here. Clearly a whole different class of player. We can but hope.

Got to be Charlie to score the winner at Wembley to complete the fairytale first season.

It'd almost be like some corny American film. Quite unbelievable.

Those Mackems are alright - when I talk football with customers at work they always talk of the battering we gave them at Wembley instead of what followed.

Remember it? - it's seared into me brain. In the penalty shoot out, Jeff Whitley, possibly the least talented player to ever pull on a red and white shirt, decided to attempt a Ronaldoesque stuttering run up, confused himself and tapped it straight to your keeper.

It certainly was an unbelievable night - but for all the wrong reasons.
