We have seen some cracking games this season to be honest but last night shades it for me.
Started off from Didcot early afternoon with the lads and it had the memories of Arsenal away (79 -80). Made our way to a pub and met up with a few more Town fans and then the nerves started to kick in.
Lucas injured, 2-0 down and then 10 men. What chance did we have ?
Those lads gave their all last night. JPM urging the crowd on at every opportunity. Both teams kept on going right to the bitter end. Then memories of Brighton entered my head and I thought surely not this time. Once again with luck against us the penalties were in the Charlton end.
.........but we did it against all the odds. People kissing, hugging, screaming this is what makes football. F**k the late train it can wait. Tonight is for us Supporters, Players and Club putting aside years of abuse and misery.
Got to Paddington but lucky for me my car was at Didcot to make the 50 mile drive north of Banbury. I went up to this young lad on the station and said to him remember this, as I have Arsenal away all of those years ago.
Home at 2.30am could not sleep. High on adrenalin and pride.
What a night and another game for the memory.
Last point the Swindon Crowd. If only we could cheer and support like that more often. Superb and you could see the players were proud of us all.
