Shearer scored alot of headers, free kicks and some long range stunners.

I cant see Austin getting many long rangers.

I still say Robbie Fowler.

Oh no, he's by no means Shearer (yet). I just mean by his growing strength and the way he doesn't mind throwing in an elbow or smashing into someone here and there makes me think of that nasty cunt Shearer.

In ten years time we'll be talking about our latest new striker and saying he reminds us of a young Charlie Austin.

i cant be arsed trawling thru this thread but simply wanted to point out that fair play to the endeavour we showed last night cracking result......oh and if we wouldn't have won, i would have written an incredibly long letter of complaint to southampton for the custard pie organisation of getting tickets/getting into the ground as I dont think its acceptable that you can arrive at 720pm and not get in the ground until 8pm-fuckin shambles....bring on saturday :-)

When I got back from the game last night the first thing I did was read this whole thread (actually it was the second thing because I did a massive piss - it nearly started coming out before I'd managed to lob my piece out), and I thoroughly bloody enjoyed it. Nice one to all who posted, it was like reliving it all again.

Really enjoyed last night's game, thought the commitment and effort got us that result (as well as our excellent backing  Smiley ). Charlie's dad was sat in front of me (according to two different people pointing it out). I have seen Lecs twice at centre half (incl posh away) and he has been superb. Hope we can keep the momentum going on Saturday.

By the way, have Saints got a trip to Wembley coming up? I am sure I heard it mentioned last night  Doh

I can certainly remember the horrible match at the dell when we lost 5 - 1.  Just after losing 5 - 0 nil to liverpool on the sunday wasnt it?

I saw that in the club shop, along with the large foam hands  Bye. I popped in there to try and find a "present" for the Pompey fan at work.

Saints first ever match at The Dell was v Swindon....they beat us 4-1 and seem to have been beating us ever since...i remember Shilton playing brilliant at the CG in the cup and Rideout beating us in extra time in the replay..set up by a young Shearer.
Can also remember Matt le Tiss oozing class at the County Ground in the prem days..indeed a bogey team so a great win at last at there place.

We won there in the Southern League.

Last win there was in 57-58...in fact we also did the double that season...no doubt that the wait and size of the club makes it feel so much better, but it's still only 3 points.
