I bought this little bute of a Laptop the other day: http://www.simplyacer.com/Acer_Aspire_7738G_701313.html  for the bargain price of £550. It originally came with Vista, but i have applied for the free upgrade to Windows 7 Premium. However, i was wondering, would i need to reinstall all of my programs i.e. Itunes, FM10, Music files etc when i get round to upgrading from Vista to W7? I ask because i will obviously have to update my drivers un'all, but i was wondering whether the actual programs and my music files would still work once i have upgraded?

Hopefully that made an ounce of sense....Apologise if not!

Cheers

You pretty much just stick the disk in and it will warn you if it can't keep al programs and drivers etc working. At least that's what i remember when i did it for my sister. It does take an intolerably long time though. Smiley

You can choose to upgrade i.e. keep all existing files and programs or do a clean install.

It's recommended to do a clean install.

So a clean install would completely wipe any saved files/downloaded programs?
Also, will Vista automatically uninstall when i insert the Windows 7 CD? Or do i have to go about uninstalling Vista first off, then stickin in the W7 CD?

Cheers guys

Yep, clean install formats (well, technically it just does a quick erase) the HDD.

AFAIK, you can't uninstall any OS. You'd need to format the HDD to do that.

When you come to install W7 do it from boot, rather than through Vista. Make sure the CD's in and make sure your BIOS is set to boot from CD before HDD, then just restart the PC with the CD in the drive.
