Why would anybody want to sign for Derby or Ipswich at the moment?!

Ipswich fans being realistic about it.  I like the 4th comment which says

'As for Charlie, it will take alot to take him away from Swindon.
1 Swindon is his boyhood team and he is still living a dream.
2 Swindon do not need to sale they are finances are good
3 He has it in his contract that Swindon can extend his contract at the end of the season if they wish to do so, which they probably will.'

He's not going anywhere.

I like the comment that there are more prolific division 3 strikers out there?!

Really, anyone else in the division scoring a goal a game?!

That's nothing Mex. I heard there was one bloke in non-league who averaged a goal a game over the whole season last year. Poole Town I think it was?

Revell is far better. I'm worried we won't be able to keep him.

I am convinced Charlie will be here until the end of this season and at least next season.

I know there is no loyalty in football but its his first shot at playing the full time professional game, hes getting regular football and scoring and at a club who are financially sound in times where a lot of other clubs aren't - including those in leagues higher than us.

I don't think he'd be in a rush to go anywhere until he at least establishes himself and proves he can cut it at this level first.

Its a dream start. He'll have a run of games where things dont run for him, or he might get injured.

Unlike Cox, I think Charlie Austin can stay at Swindon long term. We need good players to be staying 3 or 4 years, like Sam Parkin did. Only then can they have a proper impact.

When Fitton was at Hungerford, either Austins dad or Austin himself were playing for Hungerford at the time.

Twas Charlie, although his dad did play for Hungerford also. Only just realised he's related to the Angells, who i'm sure Fred would have played against most of them?

Austin played at Hungerford whilst Fitton was chairman. The first pre season friendly we had at Hungerford (a couple of years ago) both Fitton and Austin were there in the bar afterwards chatting to Town fans.

I know Fitton doesnt like contracts more than 2 years. But this is a good group of players now and Austin is young, I think a 3 year contract would be great for everyone.
