85 today! He's been my avatar for ages now, his birthday definately deserves a mention, one of Swindon's greatest ever managers.

Hope he has many more years ahead of him Happy Birthday

Happy birthday to him, and to any Swindon fans that share a birthday with him...there's bound to be a few.

Yay

When I was a lad many moons ago I arranged a penalty shoot out competition at St Joes. I wrote to Danny Williams asking him if he could help out. It was well cool being called out of class to take a phone call from him. He was a really decent geezer who was very pleased to help us out. One of the nice guys and a real eye for a payer. Happy birthday Danny.

They were good days with DW at the helm, here's hoping the current DW can do as well!

One of the best thread resurrections ever.  Happy Birthday, Mr Williams.

Wouldn't it be wonderful if Bedford gets to repeat in 2019 & 2024?

Yes indeed.  Would be great if Bedford Red were still going when Danny hits 100.

Many happy returns, Danny, the 69-er

For you young 'uns, take a minute and check out the Wiki biog.

He's a total legend for those of us lucky enough to watch Town in the late 60s and mid 70s. How ironic that having played for Rotherham all his career, it was at Rotherham, after the 69 win, that we finally got promotion to the, then, 2nd Div under his managership. 1-1, Chris Jones. Jeez, that was 45 years ago, can still recall the pub we celebrated in, in Sheffield.

So glad to hear Danny's still around. I wonder if there's any way of getting this thread to the knowledge of his family? Maybe the Rotherham forum?

Top bloke is Danny, one of the top couple managers we have had, a lovely man who always spoke his mind.

Last time I met him he started singing Rawhide to me and gave me a handful of humbugs from his pocket, I was 13 at the time and on a ground tour of the County Ground.

Lets hope he can make the century.
