In the first nine games this season Paynter worked his socks off he also took quite a lot of heavy knocks, Wilson is resting him imo letting him recharge the batteries. He will be back soon he is the best we have.

its easy to clamour for players coming back in when results are poor but thats just forgetting why they were dropped in the first place.
Yes, and normally I resist such clamour but in this case, other than that he was knackered and needed a rest there wasn't any massively compelling reason why he was dropped. If those who'd come in had been banging them in then fair enough but they haven't and surely Billy's rested by now? Meh, push comes to shove there's a reason why Danny Wilson is a football managed and I'm a software engineer. So I'm loathe to be too critical and prepared to accept there must be something he sees in training or whatever that we don't. But I bet Wilson's load-balancing algorithms are shit Smiley

Wasn't the hammering I had braced myself for yesterday, but Norwich easily kept us at arms length. Mostly agree with what the majority have said - Peacock, Hutchinson, Revell, Tope - none of them fill me with confidence that they could actually get a goal, but I thought Austin did well when he was on. The crowd calling for his arrival before he was brought on will have put more pressure on him, but I thought he acquitted himself well.

Baffled by taking MacNamee off, especially for Hutchinson. Wes Hoolahan is a diving cunt.

Fair play to the Norwich supporters coach that agreed to take me from Swaffham yesterday as well, doubt I would've made the game (or been very late at least) without them. But never let Whits lead the way on the tube...

Paynter has scored 21 goals in 90 games for Swindon....granted he has a good amount of assists, but strikers arnt judged on assists are they....he hasnt been doing the buisness..

Where as Lee Peacock also has 21 town goals in 124 games.

Alex Revell has 19 league goals 104 games.

21 in 90 doesnt look bad from where I'm sitting.

Where as fucking Super Lee Peacock has? Fucking 21 goals in 113 (+21) games. Thats an even worse strike rate, and that cunt is being preferred to my mate Billy!

Not from ware ime sitting though Dave...Paynters a good player, ive said that....but hes not consistant enough, agree about Peacock and Revell......Billy is good with an out and out scorer alongside...but on his own....well the stats show you.

the stats show you he is a more effective striker than Peacock, Revell, Hutchison, Tope and Austin!!

He is good with an out and out goal score but it isnt Billy fault we dont fucking have one.

He's our best striker. fact.

Austen looked so much more hungry when he came on, what a month for the lad, the wessex sailing league, to full professional debut at carrow road in front of 25 thousand with 1000 swindon fans singing his name. The bloke must be on cloud 9.

He will be given time as I feel there is a lot of good will flowing his way, i reckon he will be on the bench against tranmere and start against Norwich and woking, i also reckon henshall will be on the bench for the 2 cup ties.

I tend to side with DW on this one...........though why Tope is in the team is a mystery to me.

0 shots on target says different.

0 goals the last 2 games.

6 goals in the last 6 games. 3 scored by defenders

In the past, we have refused loans from higher clubs because the manager could not guarantee the loan player starting (it came up at least once when Andy King was manager).  Clubs aren't going to loan players out to sit on the bench and play in reserve games, unless they are looking to get rid.  So let's look at the old score board:

Revell: Not from a higher club, Southend, probably no understanding to start each game, or at least make an appearance.  Southend appear to want to get rid (comments after the loan was arranged).

Tope: From Premier League club, Bolton, probably obliged to start.

Ferry: From Celtic, moot point no reason not to start barring injury.

Hutchinson: From Celtic, appears to have to make an appearance, starts or comes off the bench.

What does this mean for Paynter, Revell (assumes a likely future signing), Peacock, and Austin?

For Paynter, he combined well with Cox, obviously, arguably does not combine well with Tope, or Hutchinson, and does not combine well with Revell.  This might explain Paynter being out of favour, as well as not putting the ball in the net, or possibly not following instructions.

Revell gets the nod over Paynter, no one pretended before he arrived that Revell is prolific.

Why play Peacock?  He wins headers, but without crosses and otherwise decent service in the air, obviously he cannot be effective.

Austin would appear to have the chance to be seriously in contention especially once Tope returns to Bolton.

Let's look at the Macca factor.  Playing a narrow three in midfield and giving Macca a free role was tried and failed under Malpas/Byrne.  But, who else but Macca is getting crosses in?  4:4:2 with Macca on the left doesn't appear to be an option, hence the 4:5:1/4:3:3 approach to ultilise Macca, with Tope on the left and Macca on the right.

This might explain the keep working on it comments.  There has to be a system along with the team selection, and the manager and players for whatever reasons are not making the system work.
