Right, looking to get a new phone on contract, likely to be on 02, so first of all, has anybody got any suggestions of what phone to get?
Secondly, this might seem a daft question, but I havn't got a debit card, just a standard cashpoint card, will I still be able to get a contract phone.? Cheers.

When I got my iPhone on O2 you had to have a credit / debit card or they wouldn't let you buy one. Not sure about other phones (I got a feeling it might just be for the iPhone) or networks though.

You have to pay by direct debit.
Don't get a Sony Ericsson C905.

What's up with them (serious question)? I've got a C902 which I quite like but am due for upgrade in Jan and it's getting knackered so had lazily imagined I'd just replace with the next one up which I think (although haven't checked) is the 905 isn't it? Now I'm in a paroxysm of worry that my lazy upgrade ways will not do and I'll have to do some actual research.

Phone number one - Cursor button breaks within 2 weeks Phone number two - Loudspeaker breaks within a few days Phone number three - Same as phone number one, although pretty instantaneously Phone number four - Ear speaker breaks
It's been repaired and works ok now. I've only had the contract since end of March.
The K850 I had before was a nightmare too and I only got the C905 on the basis that the shop said they hadn't had many problems with it. It's a shame, the K800 I owned was the best phone ever with such good build quality it never broke despite nearly 2 years of abuse. I won't get a Sony again.

So that means I don't need a debit card? Correct?

Oh, fair enough. FWIW, my C902 like the K800 before it has been pretty good although it's started to get a bit stuttery recently. And I'm loathe to move off the SE track cos I can use them and don't want to have to relearn everything (old dog, new tricks and all that)

You should be ok unless your bank is a bit strange. I've heard people not getting contracts because they have no credit history but that was many years ago, I don't know how things have moved on since then. You could of course upgrade your bank account if it's a problem.

no, you just need a bank account. i wouldn't worry too much about your credit history, mine was really bad when I switched to o2 and it was fine.

As long as the bank account has the facility to accept direct debits. Some cashcard accounts don't.

What bank are you with? I'll use some internet skills to see if you can do direct debit.
Actually I won't, that feels too much like being someone's dad.
