RIP Shep, a real character as a player for Glos, seeing him field was an event in itself!

Very good umpire to boot, who always seemed to have the respect of the players.

Loved watching his aversion to the Nelson!

Or even a double Nelson.

Great character, RIP Shep.

Very sad....I've got his autobiog, which I won in a Glos CC quiz.

Would never have bought it, but a thoroughly good read, firstly about a journeyman old school county cricketer, then globe trotting ump at a time of great changes in the world game.

Got close to going on the 1st Nov....would have been spooky.

He would've been in his element on 11/11/11...

Very sad indeed. Its always good to have characters in the game, but unlike Billy Bowden, Shep used to get most things right.

Over......
