Interesting squad picked for SA.

No Harmison, whilst Liam Plunkett is recalled and Luke Wright has been picked for his allrounder abilities, which will no doubt please the KoT.

Looks like the tour starts on 1st Nov, with the ODI's first and the test series starting on 16th December, and there is a Boxing Day test...

Interesting squad, kinda glad they're moving away from Harmison, although he could be our best bowler potentially I just don't think he'll get there again. Wright in the Test squad is an interesting one, not sure if he's good enough but won't find out if you don't try him- although not sure SA is the ideal debut.

Think we may regret not taking a third opener (Carberry?) as Cook's been out of form recently and no cover at all there seems an odd one.

if alastair cook is a better one-day opener than steven davies then fuck me

no harmison is the right choice. the bloke's just shot away

wright in the test squad is a bit left field, but his cricket's come on a hell of a lot this year

Wright in the test team? Oh dear. And Mahmood and Plunkett? Selectors have lost the plot totally. Fucking idiots.

Disagree Boeta...think Strauss and Cook should open in the one dayers...cant believe Cook hasnt been given the chance.

hes demonstrably again and again in one-day cricket for england and essex that he doesn't have enough gears for the shorter form. davies on the other hand is the best one day opener weve produced since tresco

At the end of the day, if there is any injuries to the squad, it'll be quite easy to fly them out to SA.

England selectors made the right move not picking Harmison on this tour. last time in 04-05 he struggled big time only taking 9 wickets at 83. good that Bopara is not picked his confidence looked shot after the ashes. Rashid's choice does that mean the end of Panesar as a test cricketer??

I have to be honest, I don't rate Cook as anything more than an average fielder.

Jimmy A on the other hand is second only to Collingwood for my money.

There are few finer sights in world sport than our Burnley-supporting talisman haring around the boundary rope, sliding to collect the ball and then winging it in on the full with seemingly the minimum of effort.

I like Anderson....my point is Cook should open at one day level.
