He taught my mate at secondary school, used to play staff vs pupils football and still run  rings round everyone

Had a random ex player come to mind today for no apparent reason - Steve Peplow.

Saw him play early 70s but can’t really remember him as a player.

Wonder why these things happen.

I never saw him play for Town but did see him play for Tranmere, unfortunately died a year and a half ago aged 72.

Stevie Pepliw was a great little winger and signed from Liverpool ... can't remember but think he was signed after Don Roger's moved on and David Moss started his career at STFC.
RIP Steve Peplow

Got me thinking, where are they now?

A quick trawl reveals the following. Some of you may be able to provide more up to date info!

Fraser Digby – had a range of business interests post football and worked for the club for a brief spell before running Silks on the Downs. Now working in sales with Swindon Audi.

Paul Bodin – returned to STFC as U18s boss for several years. Last summer stepped down as Wales U21 manager after three years in the role.

Colin Calderwood – currently assistant manager at Northampton Town, recently promoted back to League 1.

Shaun Taylor – served as youth coach at former club Exeter City before assisting Martin Ling as assistant manager during his time at Torquay. Joined Plymouth as Professional Development Coach before returning to Torquay as first team coach, before stepping down in 2019.

Ross Maclaren – after leaving Swindon, he has served as Chief Scout at Aston Villa, a coach at Derby, U18s manager at Southend United and assistant at Notts County.

Glenn Hoddle – came close to a return to Swindon during the Andrew Fitton era, now a regular on the pundit scene with the likes of BT Sport and ITV.  Once a Masked Singer.

Martin Ling – Director of Football at Leyton Orient, working alongside former Town CEO Mark Devlin.

John Moncur - After retirement from playing, spent time as chairman of non-league side Grays Athletic. He is now director of family-business JFM Cars (founded in 2020) which supply vehicles across the UK.

Nicky Summerbee – Moved to Doha 11 years ago to be a pundit for the Al Kass television network. Great podcast available on the Loathed Strangers.

Craig Maskell - After retiring from the game, took on a teacher/coach role at Southgate College in London. Has now spent 10 years with the sports department at Eastleigh College.

Dave Mitchell – Returned to The CG to attend the club’s 1993 25-year anniversary a few years back. Has also has also worked as a scout for Feyenoord Rotterdam and as their Asian Ambassador for the club as well as punditry duties for ESPN, having been based in KL.
