Well, that kind of applies to any player really. No one can truly retain a player if they don't want to stay but on the flip, no one can truly stop a player signing if they so wish to.

Not so much assuming, just saying that it would be a wise strategy for the club to start talks with the player and "tie him down to an extension". Town have certainly been fairly shrewd at this in the past (and during Power's time for certain).

Anyone who thinks Twine will be the answer to our poor season is well wide of the mark, hes been performing fairly well in L2, doubtful he will do it in L1.

Power will try and make a quick buck in January I am sure and see if anyone wants to pay money for him, which is debatable, hes had a handful of good games at a much lower level than we are at now, would rather he stays there and continues to improve and comes back a stronger better player if he is not sold in January.

His face fits at Newport, look at Doyle at Swindon last season....he went back to Bradford in January and didn't score for his parent team and soon came back to us. The same will probably apply to Twine too.

He is the new season saviour in many fans eyes...and he really isn't that. Its the whole Miles Storey or Tom Smith situation again.

Much lower level than we are now?

This did baffle me too. Albeit in different divisions but only 3 places separate Town and Newport - I'm pretty certain they would give Town a decent game. Likely beat Town

Personally I don't think L1 is as good as we have seen it before, it is weaker. I remember seasons playing Leeds, Leicester, Wolves, Sheff Wed, Norwich, Sheff Utd, Nottingham Forest, Preston (some of them all in the same season) and more. They weren't rubbish iterations of those sides too, they were competing to ensure they returned to their level (some more complacent than others). There are probably one or two shining lights but I don't think L1 this season is particularly great. Only 15pts (5 wins or 3x5 draws depending on which former manager you ask) separates 22nd (Town) all the way up to 5th (Peterborough). Not suggesting Town will "do a Palace" but there doesn't really appear to be many teams that have blown me away (Accy & Crewe look tidy as well as Lincoln). Of the few, we seem to have matched most or they have been distinctly mire like too.

Just to show how things can change for a player...in 2008 Wes Morgan was playing for Nottingham Forest in L1...in 2016 he lifted the PL Title as Captain with Leicester City

Owen Windsor, ex-Town youth player, signed by West Brom, scored against us in the Boycott Cup this season for West Brom U23s, sent out on loan to Grimsby and scored a couple there before apparently falling out of favour. Now recalled/sent back to West Brom by Holloway. Option for us in Jan?

To be fair, that still leaves quite a few options open.

True, perhaps like Doughty he just wants to focus more on his fashion project once again?

or

Possibly just a move back towards Glasgae.

Steven Boyd also sent off. Sparking rumours that the two are in cahoots and set to join a club in the South as part of a double whammy... Ferry overheard in the car park shouting

'cae on Boydy ye wee preck. Ave bin ronnin' tha meta fae a good five menuts, ya ken?"

Should I start asking Nixon for" any news" already?
