He wasn't bad when he first joined us, only to go to pieces when his confidence appeared to be shot.

^^^^ This. He isn't that bad a keeper, yet is 100% a confidence player. It's hard lines really though. I would imagine what he has learnt about the realities of the pro game will make him a decent coach/mentor one day. He knows he's not a serious no.1 and if he wasn't so butter fingered at crosses he would make a decent no.2. Better than Moore (what was all that about...oh yeah Vigs/Flitcroft thing), not nearly as good as Vigs but the flipside is, Vigs just thinks he is much better than he is. Will ruin his career methinks.

I’m not sure it was his confidence that drained with time, it was ours. He was a bad ‘keeper from the start and the more games/saves the more we all saw, the more we could see those weaknesses - the handling, the lack of footwork making him seems small and unable to reach corners, his uncertainty about coming off his line. It was always there but we needed to see him tested to see it.

He was awful, truly awful.  If you can't even consider relying on your keeper, you are in trouble as a team.

His psychological mindset was shot, which knocked on to his physical attributes. As stated, he was better than Moore. Not quite as good as Vigs. Then again, with Vigs psychological mindset so erratic I never really liked him being in goal. Foderingham is a perfect example of a keeper who is in control of his mind most of the time. Always had a calmness about him. Yet we can only see how the psych element can damage even some of the best keepers around. Point in case; Joe Hart. Cracking keeper, you would put him up there with Seaman as a nailed on England No.1...confidence shot, and now is susceptible to more blunders than you's ever wish. He isn't an awful keeper (and no i'm not comparing RCC to him) but his mental game is shot, in sport.

Self doubt is a bitch. If he can overcome that he could walk back into an England side. He's better than Butland.

He was absolutely terrible, so bad that at times he didn't even bother diving for shots. Add in he couldn't even catch a ball cleanly his agent must have worked overtime for this gig.

People only thought he was ok to begin with because they believed the shit that Flitcroft spouted about Vigs.

Flitcroft was a twat but Vigs is his own worse enemy. They were always going to clash but also how many managers have had issues with Vigs?

My point is it was making people see RCC in an overly rose tinted light. I said he was terrible from day 1 as he could barely even catch a ball but got shot down. As Rob said he somehow made himself appear tiny between the sticks he was that bad, he had no redeeming qualities.

Fair, I do think we have been spoilt with some very decent keepers in the past though. But hey I'm not a GK coach so I know nothing  Smiley

If he is he'll soon start proving it and move on.
