Albsolute hero of mine, always gave everything he has an only 2 years older than me, RIP big man.

Wish we had one as good as him now in our defence.

Big gentle Brummie, shared a car with him a lot when I worked for the club, always a true gent and lovely man.

Never forget his game at Reading, got concussion and played with it for 80 mins with a bandage on his head ala Terry Butcher, gave everything he had in every game, massively under rated.

Jon took his time to find his feet at Swindon when Tim Parkin kept him out the side but flourished in Ossie's 89/90 side.

Prone to moments of ill discipline and Norwich away in the FA Cup was a classic. Lorenzo and Jon both sent off for fouls on Robert Fleck playing the classic irritating Scottish Forward of that era. Good old fashioned lamping from Jon

I noticed today that Mark Dempsey, who had a forgetable spell on loan under first season Macari, who knew him from Man U, is now part of OGS's coaching staff, having followed him around to Norway Cardiff etc.

Will always remember the lift your crunching tackles and bravery gave to team and fans alike.   a perfect foil to the Fridge, Colin Calderwood, as you helped us win promotion to the old First Division (taken away by the FL)

I remember a few years ago, pre seat extension area in the Arkells Stand, I was stood by the touch line with a few mates. I believe we were playing Port Vale. It was around the 86th min and we were winning -just!  The ball went out for a throw to us, I went to get it, only for 'Gits' to scream at me 'FUCKING LEAVE IT'. I did as I was told!

The ball runs loose. Two players converge on it, neither is going to back out.
Crunch. The crowd roars. Jon wins the ball. Never in doubt.
An evening game, watching from the Stratton Bank. Can't remember who the opponents were.

Same age as me.  No
RIP Jon.

Also remember when Alan Mcloughlin scored against us when playing for Portsmouth.
He didn't celebrate and Jon, also playing for Portsmouth, made a point of running over to join him and they both jogged back to the centre circle together. Thought it was a nice gesture of respect and the memory stuck with me for some reason.

Gits was an easy player to like. Thundering challenges, going in where it hurt and a voice like Justin Hawkins. Was often seen out on the piss with stigger.
Rip Jon.

Awful News. I hope the club do something to honour him. True STFC legend. Always tough in an all time top 11 when Taylor and Calderwood are involved to fit him in, but he was only a fag paper away.

Foderingham kept a clean sheet in Rangers’ old firm victory yesterday but is expected to leave this summer. I’m very interested to see where he ends up - hopefully the Championship.

I was surprised he didn't move earlier. Maybe no interest?

I am probably going to get shot down here, but I have a feeling Nicky Ajose maybe one of the marquee signings Wellens was talking about.

He only seems to have found his feet at Swindon and he could be the (20 goal a season) striker we have been crying out for.

He was only a bit part under Flitcroft at Mansfield.
