I was interviewed by Roger Malone 3 times for HTV back in the 80s and TBF he was a really nice bloke, he just loved Bristol though!
But the funny thing was that the Slave Traders thought he was biased towards us! Poor sod couldn't win...

His commentary on the 1990 Play Final is a thing of cringe worthy beauty.

A couple of the Sunderland squad had played for Bristol City, which he was pretty excited about, and the looming decision about the Financial Irregularities was a great source of material for him.  He does get rather swept along by just how good we were that day though.

A fantastic piece   of commentating even got a self congratulatory style smirk in the voice when he comes up with "Owers before Foley, seconds before Foley".

Having him do commentary/analysis on a game with the Bristol ref Roger Milford in charge was always fun.

Can someone remind me again what a dof does? I forget.  And in the case of Morecambe, what would he do that Jim Bentley doesn't already?

In charge of scouting, transfers, player contracts. Basically just taking work off the manager and giving it to someone else.

Usually a DoF is a direct connection between Manager and Chairman, the manager speaks to the DoF about what type of player he wants and the DoF finds and scouts the players also usually dealing with all contracts, but that can vary from club to club. Also the DoF has an input in tactics and is there for advice if the manager needs it letting the manager to get on with coaching.

Director of football basically does all the ‘non-coaching’ stuff a typical British manager would have done about 20 years ago

Thinking back to the early 90's my view was always that the issue with English football was not enough of our players going abroad, not a worry about too many coming to our leagues.  The money in the Premier League has complicated that a little since, but I still feel we'd do better with more exposure to foreign leagues.

There are a few lads now going particularly to the Bundesliga... like Jayden Sancho. Ademola Lookman had stint last year and apparently fancied going back.

French football suits Bostock, he's a stroller, happy with the ball and can pick a pass. The manager Casanova  Smiley had him at Lens, so presumably the reason why he left Turkish football.

Not really an ex, but Marc Antoine Fortune scores for Chesterfield, but Maidenhead have scored 3.

Wtf is going on at Chesterfield. Only 1 place outside the Conference trap door. That’s Mad Dog for you, I suppose.
