Im lumping on Ipswich to go down

Ipswich are a funny outfit, they used to be a regular opponent in the days of Div 3S, and I've a copy of the Ipswich equivalent of the Pink, from 55 when Alf Ramsey had just taken over and they stuffed us 6-2. Alf took them up and to the Title in 61-62.... they then had another golden period under Bobby Robson, in the 70's/80's. Yoyo'd a bit but have been stuck in Div 2 since 02.  It's not easy standing still in a league, in that time I can't really remember them getting close to going up or being involved in a struggle, you do get a sense if it happened they might not know what to do.

He'll get to play in front of big crowds again.

My favourites for relegation along with Rotherham this season.

That's awful. At least he's still alive though - a friend of a friend dropped dead at 34 the other day due to a burst blood vessel in the brain. He'd just started a family.

I see Martin Allen there. Didn't realise he was up North and at another Conference club after taking Barnet down. Also found this whilst reading about his patchy career:

"After leaving Leicester (August 2007), Allen declared his interest in managing Swindon Town,[26] which eventually went to Maurice Malpas. "

It is awful but caught in time so hopefully be no serious after effects.

I was unaware of Martin Allen being interest in the Town job, bullet dodged IMO but he has had some success elsewhere in that time.

That was funny as fuck, he felt he was a shoe in for the job until the board heard about his antics! he doesn't/didn't live far away at the time and said he was just watching a local game with his kids and nothing to do with his job application IIRC.

Didn't Hollowhead apply when Malpas was sacked?  Hmmm

The Bristolian has been linked to the job since he was spotted in the stands last month, and following the termination of Maurice Malpas’ contract yesterday, Holloway’s agent Robert Segal told the Advertiser his client is heavily drawn to the vacancy.

I think he had not long purchased a house in Yatton Keynell around that time too.

I remember the rumour was that he balls'd the interview by being too confidant.
