I bet he's a really nice bloke. I don't hold any dislike to him personally, just his football philosophy.

so come on then , you can't leave it there!

Oh really?

You have to go back a very long way for a lower league finish.

Just in the last playoff spot and losing the six pointers if I recall correctly.

He was given a very decent League 2 budget to start with and had it increased.  Most managers have to rebuild from nearly scratch these days, so the previous season's disaster holds little sway.

Many of the "failing" Swindon manager's inherited poor squads (either talent or morale or both) and were given no support or control or even salary, let alone any money for the team.

Flitcroft may not have made the top three worst managers (but he was not so far off) but in the c*** stakes I would place him third behind only MacMahon and the unparalleled Dave MacKay.

We don't know the budget, but what we do know is that Flitcroft said at the time of his recruitment, we couldn't compete with the big hitters.

The 4 sides promoted last season all had managers who'd been in place for a while.... Ainsworth and Coleman for quite some years, Jones at  Luton 2 and a half.... Robbins, a seaon and a half including winning the Boycott trophy.

Of the other sides reaching the PO's.... Exeter, Tisdale had been there years, The Cowleys at Lincoln had been there a while and won the Conference, even Nolan had half a season to look at it before 17/18.

It isn't easy to come in cold and build a Div 4 promotion season.... Lou Macari couldn't do it.  PB is clearly struggling with getting the balance of his sqaud right....

You can forgive a manager being useless, plus being continually undermined by both Chairman and his mate - Luke.
Just a bad roll of the dice. It was hard to really dislike him - although I tried very hard.

What I can’t forgive is a manager who repeats his mistakes from previous clubs, learns nothing, and is so far up his own arse he just can’t see it - Flitcroft.

I honestly think he’ll be gone from Mansfield before Xmas.

I hope we, the fans, can summon up enough bile for his return to the CG.

Flitcroft may have said this but Power said we had a top 5 budget, which makes sense, Luton, Coventry, Mansfield and A.N. Other.

Who do you believe? Power who can distort figures occassionally or Flipflop who always distorts things so he is the hard done by one?

I don't think I have ever disliked a Manager more than Flitcroft.  he is not our worst ever Manager though.  I don't even like Brown, but he gets the bonus of following Flitcroft.

Lincoln, FGR were the 2 mentioned in earlier debates.  So lets imagine we were around 6th highest budget, when Flitcroft bailed we were a point off 6th, so about par for budget.   Chesterfield were reported to have a competitive budget.... got relegated.

David Conn in the Guardian, said that Chesterfield had the 6th highest budget in Div 4 last season at 2 mill.

We had SIX managers in 2013!
Yet only had 8 managers in total from 1902 to 1971 encompassing 2,742 games and 69 years!
