Probably the best player we've had since I started watching regularly (pushed closely by luongo and Ritchie)

Good spot, nice to see Coxy getting a bit of praise.

In order to show the vagaries of football, when Coxy scored that goal v Saddlers, Troy Deeney scored for them. Not many would have thought he'd be the one still scoring in the Prem.

I wanted us to sign him back then.
Clearly talented.

I was the opposite - I thought he was a bit of a donkey. Remember thinking the same about Jonathan Walters. Clearly I would not have made a good scout!

Fred’s motivational speech/tirade at Simon Cox on TEF was clearly a successful motivational factor behind his spell at Swindon.

Here's an old thread from about 7 years ago about realistic targets for 10/11.  There's a few who suggested Deeney, but you don't appear to be any of them DV.

Quite an interesting read, some of the names mentioned have disappeared up their own arsehole.  Probably most bizarrely, there's a couple including PV who suggest Donal McDermott.

The Beast lobby, gets short shrift, but the big man is still going strong as we'll probably find out tomorrow. Obika got a few votes, as did Caddis, Ferry and Matt Ritchie but we kind of knew them from loans.

Some wanted Prutton, because he was a mate of Douglas and Lucas.  Sad

Deeney is a donkey, just an effective one

When he went to Watford in that summer of 2010 he cost half a mill.  The sort of sum just about within our range at the time.

He's scored 101 league goals in 280 appearances which includes 50 odd as a sub. Still only 29. I think all goals at Championship or Prem. Fair play to the fella,

His post-match comments against Arsenal were great. Knows what he does well and how to be effective, and more importantly works fucking hard, despite his limitations.

I thought luongo was class. Could glide past players with ease, and had very good vision with the ball. And enters the conversation if only for his exploits with Australia whilst with us

Definitely remember mentioned him be in on here or in real life.
There was two of them, Deeney and another one. Think it was the right back maybe Westlake or something

Venkman got his wish for Donal McDermott in the end. Seven years later.
