He's deffo taking the piss. I played against Flint several times at youth level. Didn't "know him" per se but most of the lads growing up around our area always had this sarcastic/dry sense of humour. One false move in the changing room and it was either big time mockery, a wedgie or you were shown up for being a twat. It's common in most parts of north east derbys, north notts & south sheff (the north midlands if you like). However, yeah he's not the sharpest tool in the box but even at 13 you could tell he would make it as a pro (or get a chance at least). Still scratching my head as to why I never got that chance? Luck (or lack of)? I don't know. Was fairly close. Trained with several semi-pro side and played for Hednesford Town Reserves at 17/18 but that was that! Maybe I didn't want it enough (although i'm pretty sure I did)? Maybe the answer is, others wanted it more...  |
