The Michael Smith review:
There's summat not reight with M Smith. His record last season suggests he's a decent to good striker but this manager can't get anything out of him.
Smith is a very curious one. You can't say he is missing "the south" because he is a north easterner and, I believe, all his family are up there. This was probably a good move for him, so why he is playing like he has treacle on the bottom of his boots I don't know. He can't jump, he can't run and how many shots on goal has he had since he arrived? Not many is the answer to that. Needs to go back to Swindon, and this week not in January.
Its hard to say, but i am pretty sure we haven't seen what he can do at this level especially as he has been typically brought on late in games we are normally losing and in a losing mentality squad. I think his next move will be a league lower. Will start regularly and start scoring again. There is something in him and I was well pleased when he first signed. I'm not sure what style Barnsley play but are formation doesn't suit, a team with wingers and he could be dangerous again. |

So that's 2 assets we could have sensibly expected £1-1.5m for that are now peanuts players.

True but look at the uproar our player sales already received. People slating the Bryne transfer when out of contract. It's early days but would any of the players we sold go for the same value now? I don't think so. The deals we made were very good at the time |
