I think it was a combination of Jed and Black.

We just went for whoever gave us the most upfront cash for him.  Hence the low price/no sell on.
If we hadn't sold, Jed wouldn't be able to cover our wages, then we'd have gone into Admin (or worse).

At least, that's my take on what happened based on the info Black (and others) since relayed.

That all rings bells.... Jed may have been an arse out of his depth but I am not sure what would have happened if he hadn't been sniffing around.

Is there some sort of 3 strikes and you're out when it comes to going into administration?

No. But technically, it's a court-granted dispensation to clear debts etc. And if you keep going into administration on a repeated basis, there's going to come a point when the court will say "Hang on, you're taking the piss here" and refuse to grant the administration order. And then if you genuinely don't have the money to keep going (i.e. you weren't taking the piss just to dodge debt) you may well find that the alternative is liquidation/receivership. Apologies if I've got some of the technical bits wrong, but that's the process as I understand it. May have changed in the last 10 years though.

So it wouldn't be a footballing authority decision - but a purely legal one?

Re Ritchie, you have to think of Black's cash lifeline for a couple of years as a sort of in-lieu transfer fee. It reduces the pain. His sale just showed what happened when it was withdrawn.

Haven't the league tightened up the penalties if you do it more than once now - i may have imagined this... Wouldn't that have been our third dabble in admin (I see to recall two previous spectres of Andonikou!)

Yes, but I don't believe there's a set penalty, just discretionary. They hammered Bournemouth and Luton not so long ago.

So based upon our record  will the FA I would have expected to be demoted 7 divisions, start with a 30 point penalty...... and a public stoning.

I'd expect no less than ISIS-style pitch-side mass executions, personally administered by a masked Greg Dyke

I don't want to know about your thoughts about a masked Greg Dyke... can I direct you to the confessions thread.

Alex Revell loaned to Wigan from Cardiff. Good job we played them recently as I'm sure it was a guaranteed goal or two against. Mind you anyone can score against us at the moment.

Cooper on Sky Sports for the Rochdale vs Wigan game.

Said "when you sell your crown jewels and don't replace them with players who aren't quite ready it's always going to be tough."

As we expected, doesn't sound he left on happy terms
