Named for its communist origins - not sure why in English though. Etoile Rouge is only used to refer to the team from Belgrade.

Plenty of European and indeed South American teams, have English names as they were founded by Brits. eg Athletic Bilbao, AC Milan, Genoa, Sporting Lisbon, Sporting Gijon, Newell's Old Boys

Don't forget STFC did much missionary work pre the Great War, for example winning the Dubonnet Cup in Paris, to demonstrate to the Fromage Munchers, how to play the beautiful game....and going on tour to Argentina in 1912, winning 6 and drawing 2 of the games played.  In fact, playing what might be considered the embryonic Albiceleste.

That must be why there's a Square Paul Bodin in Paris Reg.

So the Red Star name pre-dates organised communism then.

Apparently, Red Star is nothing to do with Communism, although the English is used rather than Etoile Rouge.

It's only right and proper that Paris has a square named after Zippy.

I didn't see the same kid as you. Temperamental, never likely to grow up and actually listen to anybody who could of helped him improve.
FD was talking about him at the age of about 8 though?

Eight or eighteen it's all the same if you don't listen and learn.
I just knew their was a raw talent wasted for the want of a little humility. Plenty of time in life for being Billy Big Balls when you've actually made it in the big world.
In that respect he's not alone I guess

Which is a shame because he was such a grounded, level-headed individual at 7 years old.

Reminds me of the quote last week from Raheem Sterling, something along the lines 'I would never have thought it would be like this when I traveled up from London with my mum and my Agent when I was 15'.....
