Not a player as such, but this has just popped up on the BBC relating to transfers that never went through....
Year 1995. Blackburn were Champions & wanted a player named Zidane, who was impressing in France. Zidane came to the training ground to have a look. He would have been operating in midfield behind strike duo Shearer & Chris Sutton. But Jack Walker decided & said "Why do you want to sign Zidane when we have Tim Sherwood?”
