Linked with Brighton in the transfer window too. Was clearly miles ahead of Kovar.

That said, I wouldn't swap Travers for him right now.

Very happy with Travers based on his performances so far. I do wonder however if he ever wonders 'why does it always rain on me' being at the circus of STFC.

I think these young guys can have to be able to compartmentalize, particularly as a GK - this is superb for his development and he's got a great future in the game. What happens come the end of the season to us is irrelevant to his career.

Accrington fans reckon Nathan Baxter is the best keeper they have ever had

When people say Wellens botched recruitment this summer, it’s worth remembering this is the keeper he wanted, played in pre-season, but we couldn’t afford and Accrington could. So instead we end up with Kovar

That's a very shoddy attempt at trying to whitewash poor recruitment.

Managers miss out on their preferred players all the time, that does not excuse them for then signing shit.

Do you think he'll 'turn' his back on us when his loan move is over.

We couldn't, but then Chelsea changed their minds to the point we could, but already signed Kovar.

From memory, they dropped the price BEFORE we signed Kovar, but Wellens chose to stick with Kovar instead.

I did add that as an initial point but chose to delete it because I couldn't find where it was mentioned.

That was my admittedly vague recollection.

I suspect this will just come down to the Wellens is Guardiola v. Wellens is a Northern bottling Git argument.

I am pretty sure this is the case but Wellens always favoured his Man Utd roots and keeping them sweet, I think was the crux of it.

No but there may be 'flowers in the window'.

I read a thread on the utd forum on kovar and they are amazed at the reports coming back over his loan spell performances. they all thought he was one for the utd jersey in years to come
