Keshi scored the winner for Blackpool yesterday.

Blackpool fans convinced that they will now walk the league after their 2-1 win at Port Vale if you go by their forum.

The interesting part that Swindon should take note of......

They had 14,000 iFollow log ins for the match yesterday, nice revenue stream from football fans desperate to watch their team even in a friendly.

What are the odds on them winning the league? Great investment in players. Definitely outsiders.

I predict Blackpool to go well...until about Jan or Feb. When players like Keshi stop performing or inevitably becomes hit n miss. Yates stops getting regular decent service (I think he will find it very difficult. Here, he partly could play second fiddle - less pressure to score) and then the fans begin to turn. Fickle in all footy but very fragile at Lytham St. Annes. It won't take much for it all to come tumbling down. Be a classic case of Derby County syndrome (without the unconditional support); hot off the blocks like a 7f specialist, only to realise it's a 1m4f to burn out in the final third.

Town probably the real underdogs and potentially falsely underrated. Town essentially have nothing to lose - under the radar if you must, compared with a clutch of others. I'd take a top 8 finish but the way Town seem to be shaping up, I could see us going further...bit of luck (and an effective wind tunnel) and Town could surprise a few but not Wellens or likely some of us.

It's not an overly uncommon occurrence that back-to-back promotions happen. Likewise with back-to-back relegations. Wigan should heed caution.

Smile and wave lads. Smile. And. Wave.

I don't know how anybody can make any predictions about Blackpool when their manager has managed a grand total of 4 games.

It appears that predictions can be made following one friendly against a 'full' EFL side, so why not?

As I said, I think they will capitulate after a decent start but of course, you're right.

Think it's more the nicety of how over confident their fans seem, when on the surface they have signed players with L2 experience and players that are likely good enough for L1, yet consensus may say that they haven't necessarily invested in much quality from above (ie, in helping them get out). Seems to me that they might be throwing a few more pounds arounds but it seems to be at the wrong targets. Seeing their season crumble would be quite funny and worthy of a few shots.

If I was a betting man I would say Charlton, Peterborough, Sunderland, Ipswich, Portsmouth, Hull and Wigan are more of a realistic threat than Blackpool

My own opinion is the three that came down won't do much (fan expectation ratio, more so). Especially Hull & Wigan but will Charlton go into admin? We could apply that to many clubs at the moment (we're not immune but seem a little more stable than others) but I feel one of Wigan or Hull will have a "double dip" and no, not the joyous childhood treat or anything else that could be deemed exciting.

I agree with the others though in Fenn Town, Mackem Warriors, Woodbridge FC and Gosport Invicta would be better than Lytham Specials  Wink

The 3 relegated clubs are all some sort of basket case - they won’t challenge. Sunderland are worse than last season, according to their fans. Ipswich were poor last season and haven’t recruited to do much better. Posh always flatter to deceive.

The PO losers, Pompey and the piss stains, have suffered by their better players being in the shop window and have a few have gone.

It’s wide open this season and any manager who recruits well within the confines of the new rules will reap the rewards. Those chequebook managers who get it wrong pre season will not be able to put things right in January as their squad numbers and salaries will both be maxed out.

Hang on to your hats!

I agree Charlton & Wigan are unknown because of their off the field activities but historically they always seem to bounce back from relegation. After that there's some big hitters in the mix but it depends on whether crowds will be let in to give them a big home advantage if they start well. If they aren't it's anyone's guess and open for all of us if we start well

To me,  Blackpool fans are beginning to mimic the fans of Salford  and even Bradford fans post Xmas last season, and look where it got them, he who laughs last ..................

Have the other teams from div 4 recruited well in the off season?  I imagine Plymouth will have an optimistic view of their promotion prospects.

Indeed, throwing money at a problem doesn't often work in football, certainly not in the first season that they do it. Ask Crawley, Notts County, Mansfield, Salford, Bradford, Sunderland, Ipswich.....
