It's funny as that ground looks like what would be considered a 'soulless' new build within the EFL. All that matters is what kind of atmosphere the fans can create on matchdays.

I dunno it's a bit different with the floodlights raised above the the roof and the stands are quite steep which is good for atmosphere. Other side has all the boxes etc.
Sentimentality aside is far and away a better ground than the CG.

The stand look reasonably steep. I do like a steep stand.

I think it's more of a traditional ground with the corners filled in than a bowl.

I recall from your media performances that you are similarly a former resident of Newcastle upon Tyne.

Ever been to watch the mighty Heed, now that is a steep stand, bloody lethel with a hangover!

Regarding atmosphere, my son has been going to watch games at all levels over Europe at odd week-ends over the last couple of years. He maintains that the best atmospheres are where the clubs still have designated standing areas.

I went to see Gateshead only once. A 1-1 draw with Jerel Ifil's Kettering Town which was on the same day as a Tyne-Wear Derby. The amount of police at Central did seem somewhat overkill for a Gateshead game...

Nixon said it was likely to be as a backup but surely the current Sheff United keeper (I forget his name) is likely to replace De Gea at Man U? Fair play if Fods ends up in the Premier League. Not sure if he is good enough for that level personally but we'll see. I suspect he'll end up on loan to a Championship side if he does join Sheff United, although if they get into Europe he may get those games/Cup games.

Sort of sad to see Wes turn into the reliable back-up.

Totally agree PV. Moving to a Premiership club in Europe is a fantastic move.
