According to this piece from a few years back, he was at Southampton from 8-16 when he was released for being too small. Then had unsuccessful trials with us and Rovers among others before doing a sixth form football scholarship course, then played for Chippenham etc etc. So I think that trial's the closest we came

https://www.theguardian.com/football/2014/dec/18/tyrone-mings-ipswich

So he had an unsuccessful trial but nothing to indicate he was unsuccessful due to size.

Being rejected in a trial is a lot different to being rejected at the end of an academy career where they've spent years asesssing.

Trialists slip through and he could have been legitimately pish that day/week/whatever.

That could lead to a good link, but I suspect we may have burned our bridges with Levy.

Interesting to see that Troy is also on the coaching staff at Spurs.

Not in that piece no. It was Southampton who released him due to being too small

It was usually a different type of talent he was scouting for whilst here. Big booty b*tches if I remember correctly

Theo Robinson ready to fight for first team place at Southend according to todays Saarfend local rag.

https://www.echo-news.co.uk/sport/17755620.theo-ready-fight-place-blues/?ref=rss

Quote
THEO Robinson is ready to fight for a place at Southend United - until he is told differently.

The 30-year-old striker ended last season on loan at Swindon Town.

But Robinson is now back with Blues and is keen to show what he can do.

“I have another year at Southend and I’m a professional so I’m working hard in training every day to get ready for the season,” said Robinson.

“I take each day as it comes but I know what I can do and it’s just about getting the opportunities.

“We have a lot of strikers here but I think we all have different strengths and having that competition for places is going to bring the best out of us all.

“It’s nice being back with everyone again here and I’ll fight for a place until anyone tells me differently.”

Robinson scored four goals in 19 starts for the Shrimpers last season before joining Swindon Town in January.

While with the Robins, Robinson scored seven goals in 15 starts in League Two.

And he thoroughly enjoyed his spell at the County Ground.

“It was perfect really and I had a good time there,” said Robinson.

“I started pretty much every game while I was there and it was exactly the personal challenge I needed. I scored some goals but I’m always confident of scoring goals if I get the game time.”

Robinson will be hoping to show that with the Shrimpers and featured in Saturday’s friendly at Reading.

“It was good to get back out there,” he added.

That's just standard journo stuff.

He was probably asked the question and he's hardly going to say: "Nah, I want to leave". You can't really read anything into that either way.

That reads like he wants to leave. “I’m a professional so....” and “I take each day as it comes” and “we have a lot of strikers here....”

On his time with us: “it was perfect....”

I doubt many of us would be too unhappy to see Keshi leave.

Maybe Wellens is a bit unsure about how to best position Keshi (aren't we all) and is using this discrepancy, whatever it was, as an excuse to force him out. Sounds a bit brutal but Wellens strikes me as ruthless and wouldn't be too surprised if he's using whatever happened as leverage to get his own player in to replace Keshi.

Where is all this about Anderson leaving coming from? I saw some comments on an adver story but no story in its own right.
