I need some advice.

When I got my new phone (Last year) I signed up with Orange on contract. The signal, apart from a couple of blackspots in my village, has always been quite good up to the last few weeks.

Now I seem to get all my texts hours after they've been sent, or even the next day. I can hardly ever send a text or make a call, as I've got no ignal strength.

The question is: can I tell Orange to shove their fucking contract up their arse, due to poor reception, or do I have to continue shelling out 35 quid a month for something that I can't use 85% of the time?

Have you asked/complained to Orange yet? Perhaps it's a temporary fault that will be fixed.

Not sure of the legalities of getting out the contract. Sorry.

Phone up orange and moan and they'll probably give you some money, my mum's bloke has done this when he has had poor reception and I think he's even had whole months of contract given to him at no charge.

How far into the contract are you and what phone is it? A retailer like phones4u will buy you out of your contract but you may be able to sell the phone on one of those specialist websites which pay for it and thus have the money to pay off the contract.

Don't even start me off on mobile phone companies. Quick enough to take your money, but when something goes wrong...

I've always found O2 to be excellent customer service wise - this is the one reason alone I wouldn't change.

O2 ballsed up my upgrade contract by not including any promotional bolt on so I got stung for £12 of internet charges. It took a long time to sort out and O2 even made some bollocks up that I was on the unlimited text tariff (despite charging me £10 something for texts that month).

I expect they won't refund that this month as they should, so I will probably spend another unhappy hour and a half on the phone trying to sort it out. Hopefully I won't have to go into the Phones4U store this time in order to get them to get me what I actually pay for.

The story is, they can all be a bit poo, but varying degrees of it.

Everyone I know on Orange gets terrible reception, same with vodaphone. 02 is far better than any other network for reception.

Im on the awful 3 network and i took it up knowing they were shit. The only reason i did was beacuase they dont charge for international roaming calls if the country you are in also has the 3 network. Brilliant for me as Italy does so i can call home to the UK and to my girlfriend in Sweden for free.

Sounds great. But i have had the contract 3 months and i have just recieved a text saying that they are stopping all free international roaming so they can "compete for better rates with other companies"  What a load of shit.

I phoned them up and in an indian accent they said "we are happy to give you £20 compensation"

Anyone know what i can do? Surely they are breach of contract?

Reception wise O2 rips Orange to shreds down this end of the woods, I have tried Orange, Virgin and O2 and of all those only O2 would even give me a reception in the centre of Yeovil.

I've never had any problems at all on Orange. Deffo the best network i've ever been on. Although i've never been on O2. Reception for me is fine though.

Looks like this is grounds to terminate the contract by giving one months notice and without any penalty, but 3 will do everything they can to stop you from doing it (including telling you that you can't) and you just have to keep on at them. Have a read of this thread, should tell you everything you need:

My girlfriend's phones had the same issues - I think it's an Orange problem but should be fixed soon.  Ring Orange and whine like a little girl, see if you can get some free credit or sumat!

I've been on Orange for what must be 10/11 years and I've never had a problem re: signal apart from the last few days when I receive texts after they've been sent.

Its been nothing extreme but noticable. I mentioned to my mates and they havent had that problem. Maybe its a temp thing?!

Vodafone pay as you go looks like the best option for me now as they have free inclusive minutes international roaming for the summer.
