You're not alone JFW. I don;t like it too much, but now that my sister lives in Australia I've had to deal with it. I find a good drink or two helps, but the more you do it the more comfortable you get. Not that my mum would agree!

Simple answer: if you don't like it that much then don't go on holiday. if you insist on having your holiday then get on with it.

I pity the fool that don't like flying.

In answer to the original question, not that comfortable on planes. Used to go a bit clammy but it never stopped me going on holiday. But I got a lot better after going on the 30 odd seater twin prop Fokker to Maastricht. We went through turbulence and it was interesting to say the least. After that the larger planes seemed much more a comfortable experience.

Anyway 'enjoy' this:

Is that similar to what Michael Hutchence and various MPs were/are into?

I love the whole flying experience, it's a bit of a novelty and it means you're going somewhere sweet.

Was on a jet back from Skiathos a few years back.  The runway there is short so planes take off with out much fuel, then land on the Greek mainland to refuel.
On this occasion we took off into a cloudless sky & landed 100 miles north in Thesalonika in the middle of a massive storm & a crosswind. we landed on one wheel & bounced back on to the other repeating the process all the way down that runway. Now that was fun!

I always hated flying, then 15 years ago I said enough was enough and haven't flown again since. Funny thing is I was actually in the USA at the time, ended up coming home on a boat. If I had to I could get on a plane again, but I'm not going to do something out of choice that freaks me out so much.

A colleague of mine said he had a fear of flying to get out of working in Scotland. I missed a trick there Smiley

I fly very infrequently but I find it rather boring.

I'm not too bad with flying really although not a huge fan of taking off, I've flown a plane myself before which was good fun. One of my mates is a pilot and he's quite scared of heights but he's always been ok with flying which is probably for the best.

I fucking love flying. Taking off and feeling that huge surge of power and acceleration. Looking out the window when cruising and realising you're 3 miles up in the sky defying the laws of physics in a piece of metal weighing over 50 tonnes and traveling at 500 mph. Feeling that emmense reverse thrust when landing to bring that baby to a halt. Hell, I even like the shitty inflight meal. For me, the flight is all part of the holiday experience.
Though it is mostly fucking boring!

That missing plane hasn't been found yet, its surely now at the bottom of the atlantic, could be a massive tragedy unfortunately.

Talking of sheer power in planes I see the Vulcan is at Fairford this year. That thing is awesome & beats a B1 Bomber & Concorde
