NEWPORT County player/coach Steve Jenkins has left Spytty Park to join Welsh Premier League side Llanelli as player/assistant manager.

The Welsh international links up with former Exiles midfielder Andy Legg who was appointed as manager of Llanelli last week after the departure of Peter Nicholas.

A statement on the Llanelli website reads: "Former Wales,Swansea City and Huddersfield Town right back,Stephen Jenkins,signed for the Reds today as assistant manager to Andy Legg.

"Jenkins made 165 appearances for the Swans before moving to Huddersfield Town in 1995 where he made 258 appearances for the Terriers.

"After leaving Huddersfield,he played for Birmingham City,Notts County,Peterborough United and Swindon Town before moving into non league football with Worcester City and Newport County.

"Steve also played 16 times for Wales. Steve will be Player/assistant manager."

I love Steve Jenkins, he promised to come to my club but never showed, however my love for him does not diminish.
