Anyone who likes music would never dismiss a whole genre as garbage....except Jazz, that shit is bollocks. There's good and bad in everything. I've heard your band*..Sweet Jesus! I think I may even possess one of their albums. I like the song Dammit but pop punk isn't my bag, baby.
Saying that I've shamefully stuck with what I considered a couple of decent punk bands who sold out (well I bought a couple more of their albums which I hate). The Offspring and Alkaline Trio being the ones that spring to mind. Sure there is more, actually The Damned tried to do the New Wave/Post Punk thing which I didn't like. Their new album is ok, they've gone a bit halfway house with it though.
Does anyone remember Sum 41? They were ace.

Sum41 were ok for about 5 minutes in 2001.
On the pop punk front I like New Found Glory and old Offspring stuff. Or going back before that, bands you'd also possibly class as pop punk like Ramones, Buzzcocks and The Jam.

That was a jest. I was going to go with Wheetus, but thought that was a little too obvious Personally, I think the older stuff from The Offspring was too political to be classed as pop punk early on. In fact before Smash they weren't a commercial success. Anyway, I digress from my original point - I tend to like bands when they are more edgy and rough around the edges, compared to when they refine their sound. At least with punk anyway. |

I've always been an Offspring fan, but much prefer their earlier albums. Nerds with dreadlocks trying to play punk, it's just fucking awesome.
I also think Travis Barker is hugely over-rated as a drummer. Yeah, he's good, but one of the best around? Not even close.
