You could always get an Appe iMac, a 20" model costs just under £800. Personally I reckon they are worth every single penny, though I'm sure plenty of people will disagree.

Things can only get better

I could and would easily build you a really good gaming system for that price, if that price was for a system with no monitor or kb or mouse or speakers then you would get a bloody good gaming system for that price.

If you need the above then you will still get something much better than Dell or PC World could sell you for £500 extra.

Avoid systems with anything less than a 9800+ or 4800 graphics card as that will be the thing that knocks the price up.

I normally charge friends/aquaintances £40-50 to build a system and install XP/Vista plus postage costs as I live in Somerset not locally to Swindon.

But...if you want an off the shelf system with a montiro then I would suggest

£679 inc VAT

Then add £104 inc VAT for a Samsung 20" monitor
http://www.ebuyer.com/product/151436

Thats £783 inc VAT and Delivery.

Obviously I could make a better system for less but including the cost of building and postage to you after the costs may be offset a little.

Or do as Magic says....build it yourself.....it takes me about 30 mins to knock a PC up together from parts and 2 hours to install and set up and optimise XP or Vista, so an amatuer could easily put one together inside of a day with little problems.

You could buy a 2gb machine and just add the extra RAM in yourself, which is likely to save you some cash and it's very easy to do.
