first, i'd like to say that i've always enjoyed her work as an actress.

however, every time i see her patronising effing face on them smoke alarm adverts, followed by another one 30 seconds later, it drives me mad.  if i checked my smoke alarm every time the advert told me to, the bloody batteries would be knacked by the end of the week.  in addition since the smoke alarms in my house are so sensitive they go off every time i bloody well fart, i'm more than sodding aware of them.  thankyou, but leave me alone please.

oh, except that dinner ladies things with victoria wood.  that was shit.  victoria wood was ok, but walters, you were shit.

Julie Walters imo is one of the greatest actresses who has come from these shores.

So I totally disagree with what you say, AND if your batteries run out so quickly best you stop going to the pound shop and buy some proper jobs.

You can also adjust your smoke alarm for fire and not farting!!

Those adverts with her are always so annoying and you just can't get away from them  Roll Eyes

I have to say that her portrial of Doctor Anne Turner in the BBC1 Drama last sunday,

'A short stay in Switzerland' was incredibly moving, think she might be up for an award it was so good.

I saw that and it one of those I didn't fancy on a Sunday (give me Heartbeat or Time Team anytime) but I must admit it was a superb performance.

Is it wrong that my first thought was "great Julie Walters is dead!!  I wonder if anyone had her in the death game".  To click on the thread and discover this is some what of a disappointment, to say the least.  I expected better from the TEF.

In all honesty the first thing I thought was - "Dead?"

And me.

On the silly advert front. I'm quite fond of the David Mitchell cocaine one with the dog. Adverts like that normally have the opposite effect than the one intended for me. I wasn't thinking about coke before that advert was on. Now I am.

Smoking ones are just as bad. Even the heart-wrenchingly depressing stories of families broken up through smoking death. I'm so down I need a fucking cigarette after that shit.

It's lucky I don't drive, one of my all time favourite adverts is the dead little girl corpse going backward towards getting hit my a car. 30 miles an hour one it is.
