Just watched playbacks of both goal and was surpised by just how similar they were. The strike against Fenerbace was classed as a "wonder goal" but written off by many "because it was a friendly and he wouldn't get the same opportunity in a league game"
Well, in my view, the Walsall goal beats the Fenerbace goal hands down due the fact that against Fenerbace Coxy allowed the ball to bounce before lobbing the keeper... For me this is a the best ever county ground strike and proves that Coxy's goal against Fenerbace wasn't a 'one hit wonder' !

It probably isn't though is it? I'd need to look at all the goals ever to make judgement... How do we know there wasn't such a goal in 1921? We don't Hasn't this discussion been done? Anywho, In recent times, Rory Fallon chested the ball perfectly to score an overhead kick from outside the area - that ranks higher than the Cox effort in my book. I prefer slick, 20-30 passes in a move goals anyway

It probably has, but who cares... I think it deserves it's own topic

Im not sure if many can remember,I can only just about but did't paul batty hit a screamer from about the same spot against someone many years ago,it may have been against bury.
Cox's was better tho as it was more technical.

To the tune of "when the saints..."
Oh simon Cox (oh Simon Cox) Is going to Score (is going to score) Oh simon Cox is going to score and when he scores with a blinder he'll go and score a couple more
EDIT: 2nd Chorus
He'll score them here (He'll Score them here) [point to the right side of the pitch] He'll score them there (He'll Score them there) [point to the left side of the pitch] He'll score them every fuckin' where [do a mental pointing dancing thing] He's Simon Cox, cox, cox, and more cox and all the girls they love our cox [get your cocks out]
Back to first chorus...
