I met Brian Cant once, he was the nicest man you could ever wish to meet, no different from his on screen persona, I will miss him. RIP Brian.

Loved Brian Cant. Even watched Dappledown Farm as an adult because he was on it. Just came across as a genuinely nice bloke.

I have no factual basis for saying this, but the incidence of Parkinson's seems to have increased enormously over the past decade.

I don't know if its the actual rise in numbers of Parkinsons sufferers or the awareness of the illness and it rarely being used as the actual cause of death, it seems to be more prevalent as the cause of death now. In the past it was often that a sufferer died from things associated with Parkinsons now it seems to be a more all encompassing illness.

I have had a few family members die of complications of it but never was it refered to as the actual cause of death. My Aunt who had it died basically because her body forgot how to eat and breathe but the report said she died of heart failure aggrivated by Parkinsons.

Very similar or dementia and Alzheimers deaths in many ways.

Cheers, thankfully she is still at the cheerfully unaware stage, she is in residential care and seems very happy where she is, but its still quite tough, especially being c.300 miles away!

My gran died on Sunday.  Combined old age and dementia.  92 aint too bad an age to get to but it is sad to see them disappear with the illness.  Tough to go through Horlock.  Commiserations.

My gran suffered with dementia for over 10 years before she finally passed away. It's a horrible illness, possibly more so for those close to the sufferer than themselves. First few years you wouldn't have really known she was ill, unless you knew her. the last few were tough..

St Peter is going to be getting some earplugs. Rod Hull's posse will be singing "there's somebody at the door, there's somebody at the door"...
