Alejandro "Alex" Sabella. 66.
The forgotten Argentinian that arrived after the 78 World Cup along with Ardiles and Villa. TBF he wasn't a bad player he should have signed for a bigger team than Sheff Utd were at the time

The rumour was always that Sheffield United were offered him or some youngster named Diego Maradona. They opted for the known talent of Sabella.
Ironic that they both passed away so close to each other

Yeah that was indeed the rumour, whether or not it was true we will never really know.

Rossi was a great goalscorer who peaked in 82 as part of the solid Italy team that won it, great striker who never did much outside of the vox but inside it there was nobody better. Only 10 years older than me. Sad

I saw Sabella play for Sheffield United against Palace in '78 and he was hugely impressive. Hated Palace after that because of cries of "break his fuckin' leg Kember" throughout the game.
