Almost certainly - you wouldn't put that in a contract, and certainly in Williams' case if the argument is that it's being done to save a pay-off you don't need to, as the publicity surrounding the court case would be enough to terminate the contract.

This is one of the main reasons why I hope we get a new manager soon (apart from the whole relegation battle things) so we can get away from these half-baked rumours then spawning three pages of debate as if they're fact. (Not having a go at DV who to be fair did put in adequate disclaimers)
