last year singing about ling always being swindon til he dies at brisbane road must have impressed him:)
Top day! (Apart from the result) He's Swindon till he dies, he's Swindon till he dies. He's Martin Ling, He's Martin Ling, He's Swindon till he dies. (Can't remember the game, but I can remember the song!)

ling is one of the names to excite me least.so be it if it's him, but wouldn't even be on my shortlist.

I remember watching us play Orient last season and wishing we could play the type of attractive, free-flowing football that they did.
He might not be having the best of times at the moment, but you have to remember the constraints he's under.
If he could get our current squad playing the way he likes, we would be in for some entertaining games.

Would people want Ling as manager if he wasn't linked to STFC?
Thought not...

But what are they (serious Q). All I have seen is claims of financial handcuffs (from loads of people) without any comparison to our own budget.

I was having a quick scan of an Orient forum and they seem to like him. Some chap even said ' Don't go, we love you' which is a bit creepy. Some blokes just started this thread http://www.leytonorient2.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=194912Ling's from Mars. He get's my vote!

According to O's fans, if you take out the loanees and youth teamers, he has one of the smallest squads in the league. Also, Hearn is well-known for his lack of spending. Remember we got Easton when he was their Captain and player of the season.

Every forum has a Fatbury. According to O's fans, if you take out the loanees and youth teamers, he has one of the smallest squads in the league. Also, Hearn is well-known for his lack of spending. Remember we got Easton when he was their Captain and player of the season.
Fair enough, still not sure how significant the gap is compared to our target budget.

If he had some really crafty tactics we might see how cunning Ling is at the County Ground ...

Im sorry but of course people are more likely to be endeared to potential candidates if they have had previous connections with the club whether it be an ex player etc.
