Just to be objective, Bobby Robson was never particularly popular, no England manager has been not even Sir Alf...which is why it's the impossible job.
Terry Venables was a very popular manager for England with the fans.

It wasn't that bad a qualifying campaign for england to be honest.  Shame that taylor was treated like shit by certain areas of the media.
