continuing from the paul newman thread.

the quality of their films has ranged quite a lot over the course of their career, i must agree. this is mainly because they constantly strive to try new things.

intolerable cruelty was an odd project and the ladykillers was a tribute...both aren't awful though, though don't compare well to the rest of their films.

no country was a return to form though.

I loved the ladykillers, but then Tom Hanks is my favourite actor at the mo.

No country was great I thought, until it got to the ending (what ending?)

Asides from that SY, why are you rebelling against the use of capital letters?

The ending was great. All of the supposed hard men die in every hollywood movie, he was unstoppable, easy.

Intolerable Cruelty is the only one, for me, that I really disliked.

Let's acknowledge the pre-Fargo work - Blood Simple, Raising Arizona, Millers Crossing, Barton Fink...

God I wish I had their talent!!!!

my boss hated raising arizona - loved all of their other films, even liked intolerable cruelty but really hated raising arizona...

i think he didn't appreciate the humour in kidnapping babies.

I really liked Raising Arizona. Haven't seen it for ages, I might watch it later.
