The best he can hope to do is keep them up.

I'd rather have Paynter than Fleetwood...

Do not see anyone disagreeing though. With some decent signings and Allen joining they will be mid table in no time

I disagree

Fleetwood is shit and his reputation is purely built on one purple patch in the conference.

Allen has achieved nothing in his managerial career and has been sacked or walked out from every job hes had

I'm still betting on them getting beat by Stockport tomorrow.

Am I too gather then Bart you would actually like to see Allen at Swindon?  If so the mind boggles more so than usual.  He's the last person I'd want as a manager...

Well, exactly. Allen will inject enough energy (and fear) to save Cheltenham from the drop this season. And on that basis will be praised (and fair enough). But he'll see that as a springboard for a better job and if something doesn't come up that he can move onto next season, he'll start to get frustrated at his failure to "move the side on a level", the feeling will be mutual, it'll all end in tears. He's a good "kick some arses to keep you up" manager at this level, but not an appointment you make for long term stability and building measured progression which is what we're trying to achieve.

allen did a good job at mkdonalds and brentford in my opinion.also what manager doesn't either have aspirations to move up? gets sacked? or leaves eventually?
you could count on one hand the managers that never leave.and that is only due to being succesfull and not being able to top what they are doing

Martin Allen's & Cheltenham's luck will run out... Allen was supposed to get Franchise up, he failed. He also buckled at Brentford. But he essentially didn't achieve the goals expected of him.

the same Stuart Fleetwood who has played a whole 0 games and scored 0 goals at this level. Fucking brilliant, I wish we'd signed him instead of Simon Cox....

I remember him scoring a perfectly good goal against us  - or are we not at this level? I'm confused.

Wasn't that in the FA Cup with a Non-League team though?

You're right - so that wouldn't count, because it wasn't at this level.
It only counts if he makes us look stupid and slow playing for a league club.

is that not true of every manager in the world who has managed more than one team?

Fleetwood - overrated and overhyped.

Allen - I said it all before. I think he'll do well for them but is a grade A cunt who will leave at the next better opportunity (much like all managers).
