on 606 this morning people were whinging that it was impossible to unsubscribe, saying they take levels of customer service to a new low. If it's worse than Sky I definitely don't want to know!
For Walrus, who no doubt is glad he asked....
1. When I joined, their T&C stated 30 day cancellation. They have since upped this to 60 days, but they do not write to you to let you know. They simply update the T&Cs on their website 1 month in advance (as state din the T&Cs). If you miss it tough shit.
2. All cancellation requests MUST be done in writing. This is crap, but even when you do write there have been multiple case of a) 'losing' the letter, b)customer services giving the wrong address to write to. They provide no confirmation of your cancellation date so you never know.
3. They claim the 60 day cancellation starts when they process the letter, not when they are known to have received it. This means cancellation can take nearer 90 days than 60.
4. Their customer support lines can easily take a minimum of 30 minutes to answer, which I guess is not unique to Setanta but unacceptable none the less.
5) Customer service representatives are either badly trained or blatantly lie. I was told the cancellation period started the day I telephoned, it doesn't.
6) They seemingly ignore all emails to their customer service department.
So if you do subscribe, never ever use a credit card. There is no way of cancelling payments using this. Direct Debit is your friend.
